Are You Ready For Social Music On Facebook?

News reports suggest Facebook is soon launching its music service with the help of third party players like Spotify and Last.fm. The announcement is likely to be made at the upcoming f8 conference. Facebook gave us a glimpse of the feature couple of months ago in its hidden code. "Vibes" as it will probably be called will allow users to select and listen to music with their Friendsf8 Are You Ready For Social Music On Facebook?

The deal with the music companies would probably be similar to the deal between Facebook and game developers. Applications would be allowed to run on Facebook, but a certain amount of commission would be charged. Successful companies like Zynga have demonstarted what it takes to operate on Facebook.

While Spotify currently supports Facebook Likes, the new service will deeply integrate it into a Dashboard.

According to Gigaom, Facebook Connect and Facebook Likes are key components of this service and will go in a long way to encourage social behavior. The music service will appear as a tab on the left side of the homepage and upon clicking will take you to a music Dashboard.

We can’t wait for the service to be launched. Readers, tell us what you think.
