PlusClout Brings Clout Score To Google+

Yes I meant Clout, not Klout! The makers of FindPeopleOnPlus.com have launchedPlusClout, a service that measures social influence on Google+. The site borrows the idea from Klout and adapts it to Google+. The site takes into consideration data from FindPeopleOnPlus.com to arrive at the score. With 15 million public Google+ profiles and items shared (posts, comments, +1′s etc.), PlusClout uses numerous public variables like number of followers, frequency and volume of information sharing etc. Mix in some mathematics and you have a PlusClout score.

So, who are the most influential people on Google+? No surprises, they are all geeks! Marissa Mayer(Google), Kevin Rose (Square), Vic Gundotra(Google), Guy Kawasaki(AllTop) and Robert Scoble(Rackspace) have made it to the list with a score of 95+.

Joining the ranks at the bottom of the table is none other than Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg with a score of “0″. Its evident from his Google+ profile that he joined Google+ out of curiosity and with no posts till date, a score of zero seems fair.

More Evidence Pours In Suggesting Google+ Is Slowing Down

Just as the initial euphoria surrounding Google+ shows signs of staving-off, it has become pretty clear that the site is losing its steam. While the site has opened the doors for the public with invites, there appears to be less of an enthusiasm from people outside the tech circle to make it a part of their daily lives.

The site which has already hit 25 million users is struggling to keep up with the growth rate witnessed by it in previous weeks. Chitika in its research found out that Google+ experienced a 34% erosion of its traffic from July 20th to July 31st. These results are in stark contrast to an earlier Insights study which indicated a 300% increase in the interest for Google+ from July 3rd to July 11th.

google plus growth More Evidence Pours In Suggesting Google+ Is Slowing Down

At one point the site handled about .007% of total web traffic. It has now been reduced to about 0.005%.

The slowdown was first noticed by serial entrepreneur Paul Allen last month. On his Google+ account he noted,”Last week we saw two days where more than 2 million signed up in a single day. If that rate had continued, Google+ would have reached 20 million users by last Sunday night. But the last four days have averaged only 948,000 new users and yesterday the site added only 763,000. Yesterday’s growth of 4.47% was the slowest viral growth since Google opened up invites back on July 6th.”

So, should you write-off Google+? Not until it comes out of its invite only mode. Remember, Google+ is treading the path of Google’s other product Gmail which witnessed slow but steady growth over the years.

A New Twitter Spam [ Beach Body ]

Thousands of hacked Twitter accounts are sending a wave of spammy messages advertising a weight-loss product.
The tweet is:
“Get the beach body you’ve always wanted, now you can with this weight loss supplement,”
followed by a link to a website advertising an Acai Berry dietary supplement.
Yet this is not cleared that how the accounts have been compromised, but judging by the number of spammy messages, it’s possible that users’ passwords have been stolen.

If you see such a message coming from your account, change your password immediately. You should also revoke Twitter access to all suspicious applications. You can do that by logging into Twitter, clicking on “Settings” in the upper-right drop-down menu, choosing “Connections” or “Applications” and clicking “Revoke Access” on suspicious apps

Share this information as possible as any where and aware your twitter friends about this Spam

How to get old Facebook Chat Box on New Facebook

Facebook has released its new chat version . Most of the people didn’t like it because it is not showing all the online friends. If you also don’t like this new chat interface, you can revert back to old Facebook chat interface partially.

The new Facebook Chat interface is designed well, but the problem is it is not showing all the friends who are online. It is showing only the contacts with whom you are interacting frequently. In my opinion Facebook has to implement an option to show only Online friends like in Google talk or just show the Online friends only.

Example: If there are 50 friends online, it is showing upto 30 results (fits the size of the screen) out of those 30 results it is showing the offline friends also. They need to separate Online and Offline (limiting to the friends whom we have frequently talked) friends and also have to put a Scroll bar like in the previous one, then it will be cool.

Requirements:

1. Mozilla Firefox
2. Greasemonkey
3. The Old Facebook Chat script

Ok now it’s time to get the new facebook chat.

Follow the steps:

1. Open Mozilla Firefox.(If you  don’t have click Here.)
2. Download Greasemonkey add-on for Firefox from Here.
3. Now the final and the main step, Download the script from Here.

Now open up Facebook.
Login to your account.
Now you will see the old facebook chat.

Pinboard Is Growing Like Crazy, Adds 25 Million Bookmarks In A Year

Pinboard, the bookmarking site which emphasizes more on speed over socializing has had a remarkable growth story. Without being caught into the social trap, the site channeled its resources towards maintaining up-times and offering a serious paid alternative to Delicious.
Ever since its launch, the site has been queitly adding numbers to its service – many of whom came during the infamous Delicious exodus in Dec 2010. Last year at the same time, the site had 3.5 million bookmarks, 11.2 million tags, 2.5 million urls, 187 GB of archived content. Fast forward 365 days and we have a completely different picture. The site now boasts of 27 million bookmarks, 16 million URLs, 3 TB of archived content and about 12,500 active users.
Unlike Delicious which had absolutely no revenue model, Pinboard had a solid business model that helped the company gain trust and a sense of confidence from its users. Users were willing to pay for quality service, which Pinboard provided each and every day. Delicious loss was Pinboard’s gain – so much so that the company witnessed a sharp spike for few days when Delicious users marched into Pinboard’s fort.

As founder Maciej Ceglowski wrote on his blog, ” If Pinboard were not a paid service, we could not have stayed up on December 16, and I would have been forced to either seek outside funding or close signups. Instead, I was immediately able to hire contractors, add hardware, and put money in the bank against further development. I don’t claim the paid model is right for all projects that want to stay small and independent. But given the terrible track record of free bookmarking sites in particular, the fact that a Pinboard account costs money actually increases its perceived value. People don’t want their bookmarks to go away, and they hate switching services. A sustainable, credible business model is a big feature.”
Pinboard’s story can really be a case study for all the social media startups that still haven’t figured out a way to make money.
If you have a really good product in place then you can always bank upon your users to pay for the services you offer.

US military creates fake online persons all over the internet

The US military awarded a contract for software to create 500 fake personas on social networks in order to secretly influence online debate in its favour, it has been reported.

US military Creates fake online persons !

The $2.76m contract was won by Ntrepid, a Californian firm, and called for an "online persona management service" that would enable 50 military spies to manage 10 fake identities each.
The personas should be "replete with background , history, supporting details, and cyber presences that are technically, culturally and geographacilly consistent", a US Central Command (Centcom) tender document said.
It added: "Individual applications will enable an operator to exercise a number of different online persons from the same workstation and without fear of being discovered by sophisticated adversaries.
"Personas must be able to appear to originate in nearly any part of the world and can interact through conventional online services and social media platforms."
The project would be based at MacDill Air Force base in Florida, The Guardian reported. The contract was first revealed by The Raw Story, a US news website.
It also called for internet traffic from the project to be "mixed" with traffic from outside Centcom to provide "excellent cover and powerful deniability".
A Centcom spokesman however said the fake social media personas would not "address US audiences".
"The technology supports classified blogging activities on foreign-language websites to enable Centcom to counter violent extremist and enemy propaganda outside the US," said Commander Bill Speaks.
If used against US citizens such "sock-puppetry" techniques, as they are known online, would bring legal fire on the military.
The MoD meanwhile said it could find no evidence that British forces was involved in Operation Earnest Voice, a $200m anti-jihadism psychological operation, of which Centcom's "online persona management service" contract was thought to be part.
